Hi, I’m AmyFay.
For the past four years, I’ve been writing a weekly newsletter called Weekly Retail Tidbits for independent retailers in Tennessee and Kentucky through Tango Showroom. Every Friday morning, I try to share a story—something I’ve observed, experienced, or been thinking about—and connect it back to retail in a way that’s useful.
Some weeks it’s about merchandising. Other weeks it’s about energy management or the soft skills that keep your business running. I hope it also provides a sense of connection with other independent retailers - since I know firsthand how competitive it can feel rather than connected as a community.
The newsletter started as a way to stay in touch with Tennessee and Kentucky retailers since the territory I manage for Tango Showroom is large. It has become more than that — a space to think out loud, to share what I’ve learned from all the different angles I’ve experienced this industry—as a teacher first, then as a retailer, a wholesaler, a buyer, and now as a rep covering territory for Tango Showroom at AmericasMart Atlanta and carrying lines nationwide through my own business.
Why Substack? Why now?
Because Weekly Retail Tidbits starts going to all Tango customers soon. I wanted to make the content I create available to all retailers - even those not in our Tango database.
I absolutely love connecting people - helping us find our “tribe” or group with whom we have things in common and can support one another.
